{(’Threads, performed at STREB’)
Threads is an interactive performance that visualizes live sensor readings from contemporary circus performers. The performers wear custom-built cardiac and muscle electric sensors that wirelessly transmit small body electric readings into a graphics program. The audience watches the performance as it is lit by a large projection or LED wall displaying black and white graphics representing the performers’ data. Threads exemplifies an empowering relationship between the body and technology, in which performers control their environment in a unique way.
Threads performed at Streb Lab was developed in collaboration with Aaron Parsekian, Aarón Montoya-Moraga, and Danielle Butler under the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics Go! Emerging Artist Commission. It was choreographed and performed by rope artists, Danielle Butler and Lisa Jamhoury, and musician Aarón Montoya-Moraga.
