(’The Flow Room’);
The Flow Room is an interactive installation in which groups of people in two different locations create a shared, virtual visual- and sound-scape with their physical presence and movements. The Flow Room uses computer vision techniques available from the Microsoft Kinect to separate the image of each person that enters the installation from their physical environment and visualizes the image in three-dimensions on a website. The website is projected on multiple walls in both of the physical locations. The Flow Room features ethereal visuals and sounds that represent the flowing of internet users from one virtual space after another, link after link.
The Flow Room was created in collaboration with Jiwon Shin and JH Moon under the NYU Arts Council Visual Arts Initiative Award. It was originally installed in New York City and Shanghai.
