INSTALLATION | WORK-IN-PROGRESS | 2025

{(’sync : mirror’)}

As collective attention increasingly turns to the human-AI relationship, sync : mirror re-visits a decades-long tradition in telematic performance examining how communications technology can extend human-to-human connection.

This nteractive installation tracks two or more peoples’ movements on either side of a screen. As they move, their pixels overlap and separate, constructing a living map of their hybrid fascia—physical and digital connective tissue reminding us of the power of shared, embodied experience. Interactive audio, scored by sound artist Matt McCorkle, guides participants through the experience.

sync : mirror uses a newly re-developed version of the open-source tool, Kinectron, built by Lisa Jamhoury and Shawn Van Every in 2017 as an experimental platform for artists and creative technologists to bring live 3D human motion into the browser and across networks. The installation is built to be inclusive of a range of bodies and movement types.

sync : mirror continues to be in development with APOSSIBLE.
