(’Ὅλος’);
Ὅλος (pronounced “olos”), meaning "whole" in ancient Greek, is a live online dance performance featuring artists from Chile and the US with the goal of envisioning how the internet can allow for entirely new ways for people to come together physically over distance. The performers connect online using body movement and gesture. Their bodies are attached, combined and overlapped in ways impossible in the physical world encouraging intimate, playful and even awkward moments.
Ὅλος was created with the support of Meta Open Arts and NEW INC as part of their Next Web Grant, which served to address the opportunities and complex structural challenges presented by the next evolution of the internet. A creative research project, Ὅλος comprised of 12 weeks of development with four collaborative, interative rehearsals, with an outcome of a 10-minute telematic performance.
The final project was boiled down to a template and released as an open source project on GitHub.
