Kombucha Chandelier is a hanging light made from six kombucha bottles and old floorboards from the Interactive Telecommunications Program. I was tasked with making something with multiples for one of my fabrication classes. I am conscious of the environmental impact of my work and decided that I didn’t want to go out and buy materials that could end up as waste for the multiples project—instead I decided to use “waste.” I had been drinking kombucha over the summer and keeping the bottles around the house and I had taken a few pieces of the ITP floorboards that had recently been replaced. I wired them using chandelier components and used chain to suspend them. The final piece is 5′ by 3′.
